What Students Say?
"Choosing to take up a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries is like learning how to surf and conquer a big wave of knowledge in the ocean. It may seem hard and impossible, but with proper guidance, I explored the vast knowledge that it offers, showing me how important fisheries is in resource management, food security, and the economy."
"After four years of studying with such a broad spectrum of subjects, the advantages are clear. It is a program that leads and prepares students to become fisheries technologists, entrepreneurs, researchers, scientists, consultants, etc. Thus, by exploring the unlimited knowledge in fisheries, I know for sure that I won’t get tangled in a net of common careers."
"Throughout my journey as a fisheries student, I was able to explore and widen my horizon, understanding how important fisheries is, particularly how it affects the fishing community."
"Even when I was young, people often asked me what I planned to be when I grew up. To be completely honest, I was not sure. I was skeptical that I couldn't say an answer. Though many of us seek out exploration through experiences as we get older, I have always been fascinated by the scientific world. I like discoveries. I've always had the habit of believing that the world has so much to offer. Studying in this program enabled me to discover what my passion truly is, which made me even more interested in the fisheries field."
"Fisheries is not familiar to people every time they asked me why Fisheries? I always answer, 'cause why not. Fisheries is not just literally about fish, just like the ocean, fisheries is so wide and deep. It can offer you different and big opportunities, and it allows you to see your bright future as clear as water. I can assure you that here in Fisheries you are in safe hands and in right place. It's not too late to choose fisheries, and there's a place waiting for you in the College of Fisheries, I choose fisheries because it is where I see myself and feel myself."
"Deciding a college course is like choosing between passion and practicality. It's really hard since it actually dictates our future. CLSU is my dream university so considering my situation that I got in and with help of researching, I enrolled in the College of Fisheries. The first year was actually hard and feels so vague like I still have the question if I’m fit for this course or is it really what meant for me? But that question eventually faded and then I just found myself embracing this course. I enjoy what we are doing and I am proud to be part of this growing program."
"Many students, including myself, find it challenging to decide which college course to choose because the decision we will make will impact our future lives. And to be honest, Fisheries is not on my list. However, I was given an opportunity to take this course; with this, I have opted to continue since it has so much to offer, and I am confident that pursuing this career path would benefit me greatly in the future."
"Dreams turned out to be confusing as I stepped into the crucial phase of life. The mere thought of wanting and becoming something pressures and drains me. It always goes through between what I want and what I have- a dream is thriving even in doubt and uncertainties.
Bachelor of Science in Fisheries is my course, and with that, I needed to set aside my dream profession- to become a Medical Technologist. Being in the top three on the scholarship examination of BFAR in Region 1 pushed me to take this course; hence, with the great opportunity I have read about the system, I have learned to value and embrace everything about this course."
"I chose fisheries since it is the only option I have in order to have a college degree. I’m just a regular person who jumped at the chance to study fisheries in CLSU as a BFAR scholar. At first, it doesn’t seem like the field I’ll be working in the future, but as time goes on and I see how important it is, I’ve come to embrace and like it. Fisheries encompass more than just the phrase “isda isda lang”,it has so much to offer."
