The College of Fisheries – Freshwater Aquaculture Center, Central Luzon State University (CF-FAC, CLSU) congratulates Dr. Emmanuel M. Vera Cruz, University Professor, current Head of the Department of Aquaculture, CF and Head, Research Division, FAC; and Dr. Paloma D. De Chavez, an esteemed CF-CLSU Alumna and current Dean of the College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, Marinduque State College, for their outstanding contribution to scientific research.
They are recognized by the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) as one of the authors of the scientific paper which focused on the “Vulnerability to Climate Change of “Giant Squid” (Thysanoteuthis rhombus) Fishery in Marinduque, Philippines” and was published in the Philippine Journal of Fisheries. Co-authors include Dr. Mudjekeewis D. Santos, Ms. Gilda Joannah A. Calderon and Mr. Sherwin B. Santos of the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI).
Their dedication to advancing scientific knowledge in fisheries is commendable and has made a significant impact on the progress of science and technology in the country. NAST's acknowledgment of their research highlights the importance of their findings in addressing the implications of climate change on marine ecosystems and sustainable fisheries management.
The Awarding Ceremony for the 2023 NAST Awardees was held in Manila Hotel on July 13, 2023, as the culminating activity of the 45th NAST Annual Scientific Meeting.
