The College of Fisheries of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (CF-DMMMSU) of South La Union Campus sent six (6) of their students to undergo a one-month Internship Program, from June 26 to August 4, 2023, at the Freshwater Aquaculture Center-College of Fisheries of Central Luzon State University (FAC-CF CLSU).
This internship initiative serves as a platform for FAC-CF to extend their resources and expertise to State Universities and Colleges in the Philippines that offer the course BS Fisheries. The students were accompanied by their On-the-Job Training Coordinator, Dr. Reginor Lyzza A. Roque.
The kick off activity was made through an orientation program led by Mr. Aries Paul D. Padron, faculty researcher of FAC-CF. The student-interns were oriented on the history of CF-CLSU and the schedule of activities for the whole month. The faculty and staff members of CF-FAC were introduced to the student-interns during the said program. After the orientation, the student-interns were toured to the various facilities of FAC-CF.
Within their one-month stay, the student-interns will have an opportunity to immerse on the following activities: ornamental fish culture, tilapia seed production, tilapia broodstock and grow-out management, induced spawning of catfish, production of dried fish (tilading), aquaculture engineering, nutritional analysis of feeds, and fish health and water quality management.
