The College of Fisheries in Central Luzon State University (CLSU-CF) is renowned for its commitment in producing competent and well-rounded graduates who can contribute to the sustainable development of the fisheries industry.

Through a comprehensive On-the-Job Training (OJT) experience, the University aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications, preparing students to face the challenges and opportunities in their future careers. In this connection, 60 students from CLSU-CF have been successfully deployed to various stations for their OJT that will last for 30 working days.

Five students have been given the opportunity to undertake their OJT in Kasetsart University in Thailand, where they will engage in an international exchange program that enables them to explore different cultural perspectives of Thailand and to broaden their knowledge and skills in mariculture of fish species.

In addition, seven students have been stationed at the J & F Aquatic Resource Farming Corporation in Masinloc and Palauig, Zambales and Infanta, Pangasinan; four students are undertaking their training at CDO Farm in Iba, Zambales; and another group of five students has been deployed at the Tierra del Norte Realty Corporation in Sual, Bolinao and Infanta, Pangasinan. This will enable them to focus on a range of marine fisheries-related activities.

Closer to home, 39 students have been deployed at the Freshwater Aquaculture Center (FAC) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources – National Freshwater Technology Center (BFAR-NFTC) in a joint effort. This placement will provide them with invaluable hands-on experience in research and management practices of aquaculture species.

Dr. Lorenz J. Fajardo, Acting Dean of the College of Fisheries, expressed her support for the students and emphasized the importance of this OJT undertaking. “It will give you a glimpse of the real world so brace yourselves and do your best. Always be ready as this venture will instill the values of teamwork, adaptability, and professionalism which will be vital in enhancing your technical skills,” she quipped.
