Scholars of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources โ Region 3 (BFAR 3) in the College of Fisheries-Central Luzon State University (CF-CLSU) joined the essay writing and photography contests initiated by BFAR 3 in celebration of the 60th Fish Conservation Week on September 18-22, 2023.
A total of 26 scholars participated in the essay writing contest with the theme "Ang mahalagang papel na gagampanan ng kabataan ngayon sa pagpapanatili at pangangalaga ng ating pangisdaan at yamang-tubig tungo sa maunlad na kinabukasan ng bansaโ held at the College of Fisheries โ Freshwater Aquaculture Center (CF-FAC) Conference Room on September 15, 2023. The contest was administered by the BFAR 3 team including Mr. Nicomedes Wamil, the Scholarship Coordinator. Scholars from CF-CLSU, namely Ashley Mae Carpio (1st Place), Allena Jane Luna (2nd Place), and Sammhey Delos Santos (Consolation Prize), dominated the roster of winners.
With the theme "Masaganang Pangisdaan, Maunlad na Ekonomiya", a total of 14 entries for the BFAR 3 photography contest were published online for voting. Of the 6 entries from CF-CLSU, the photos of Ms. Jeanella V. Rojo and Mr. Joel Miles Alejandro won the 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.
Annually, the Fish Conservation Week is celebrated as part of Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Month) under Presidential Proclamation No. 316. The event aims to increase awareness in the importance of conserving and protecting our aquatic resources.
