As the classes for Second Semester, A.Y. 2023-2024 commenced, the Graduate Program of the Department of Aquaculture, College of Fisheries โ Central Luzon State University spearheaded an Orientation Program on January 30, 2024. The activity served as a beacon to acquaint the new entrants and to remind the continuing students with the Graduate Programโs policies and regulations of the University and of the College.
Dr. Emmanuel M. Vera Cruz, the newly-designated College Dean, delivered the opening remarks and welcomed the 23 graduate students for another chapter of academic endeavor.
Two of the College alumni were invited as speakers to give inspirational messages. Dr. Faith S. Tadeo, Ph.D. in Aquaculture alumna and Dean of the College of Fisheries at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University โ South La Union Campus, emphasized the significance of thorough conceptualization in crafting study plans, highlighted the crucial role of rigorous training and preparation for achieving success, and urged students to cultivate independence and critical thinking skills. Further, she emphasized that camaraderie instead of competition within colleagues matters. Ms. Lyda B. Balagtey, a BS Fisheries alumna, graduating M.Sc. in Aquaculture student and currently an Aquaculturist in the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources โ National Freshwater Technology Center, shared her journey as a student and encouraged her fellow students to be brave and to remember the prior reasons in taking up the degree.
Dr. Alvin T. Reyes, College Graduate Program Coordinator, presented the status of the officially enrolled graduate students for this semester and the esteemed faculty members of the Graduate Program. He also provided a comprehensive overview on the Graduate Programโs policies and guidelines which covers the University Graduate Program Office Operational Manual, Guidelines on Crediting Publication as Graduate Requirement, Advisement Fees and Related Fees, the New Format for Thesis/Dissertation, additional guidelines in the conduct of the thesis/dissertation/case studies, list of courses offered in M.Sc. and Ph.D. Aquaculture program, among others.
Dr. Lorenz J. Fajardo, Head of the Department of Aquaculture, delivered the closing remarks by highlighting the significance of studentsโ individual role and responsibility in finishing the degree while the College Professors provide support.
